The Hong Kong Treble Choirs' Association is proud to host the World Children's Choir Festival in Hong Kong in July 2005. By co-presenting the Festival with the International Federation for Choral Music, the Association hopes to sharpen the choral professionalism of all participants and provide them with a taste of the quintessence of Chinese and western choral cultures. Highlights of the Festival include:
- 4 evening concerts at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre including the Opening Concert, Asian and Local Choirs Concert, HKFYG Grand Songbridge Gala Concert and Closing Concert;
- 18 constructive workshops with choral experts from around the world featuring topics including choir demonstration, choral pedagogy, choral conducting, composition and choir repertoire;
- Conductors' forum to raise and discuss issues on children's choral conducting;
International experience with more than 20 choirs from all over the world;
- Various sight-seeing tours;
- Opportunity to visit China in a choral exchange tour
- Visit to local school for cultural exchange activities;
- Opportunity to visit China in a choral exchange tour; and
- World Premiere of five Festival commissioned pieces by renowned composers including local works by Dr. Richard Tsang and Dr. Steve Ho.
In addition, our Association hopes to group together some of the outstanding choirs to join the 3rd International Children's Choir Festival in China right after the Hong Kong Festival for further programme exchange, experience sharing and performances in Mainland China.
